Peggy and Lara met in a Marketing class at McGill University, in 1994. Although they had met briefly at Marianopolis College, they did not know much more than each other’s names. Their first student publication came out in 1996 and would be considered quite small by current edition’s standards it consisted of about 32 coupons and only about 10,000 copies were printed and distributed to McGill, Concordia and Dawson students. After a 6-year pause and many life changes, the original founders decided to partner up again upon Peggy’s call to Lara, to perfect what they had once begun. In September 2003, the rebirth became official with the distribution of the 2nd edition of Time Out Publication’s student coupon booklet. The publication currently offers roughly 100 coupons, in addition to a color page advertising section given that some companies are not equipped to offer a discount or would prefer something closer to a branding ad as a way to get extra exposure.

In 2004, in order to expand the business and the range of eligible beneficiaries of the great discounts once offered only to students, we came out with our first West-End Coupon Book. This publication is similar in format to the student book but is available to anyone who can get their hands on one. In April 2009, the 6th edition of the West-End book was distributed, to considerable positive feedback from users and advertisers.

Although “Time Out” was going very well, the partners decided to incorporate in 2006. After many months of name hunting and debating, the name “Magmonto” seemed perfectly positioned to capture everything the company stood for.
